Finnish Schools on the Move

Finnish Schools on the Move is a national action programme aiming to establish a physically active culture in Finnish comprehensive schools. Schools and municipalities participating in the programme implement their own individual plans to increase physical activity during the school day.

The programme started with pilot-phase during years 2010-2012 and and the follow-ups have been done 2012-2015. Nowadays Finnish Schools on the Move-programme is one part of Government Program and it will be expanded as a national programme to every comprehensive schools. There will be tagged funding by Ministry of Education and Culture for Finnish School on the Move-programme of amount of 21 million euros for years 2016-2018.

There is also plans that in future the programme will take place also in upper secondary schools.
