The Cross of Merit and Medals of Merit of the Finnish Sport 2016

Merited Finns in field of Sport and Finnish Sport Culture were awarded by Minister of Education and Culture Sanni Grahn-Laasonen on 26.2.2016.

There is long and powerful history of volunteering in field of Finnish Sport and Sport Culture. Volunteering has a key role both in local sport clubs and sport organizations. Acknowledgement and gratitude of active and meaningful work for Finnish Sport Culture is pointed out with these awards. The Cross of Merit and Medals of Merit have been bestowed since 1947.

Altogether 362 Crosses of Merit and Medals of Merit were awarded; Cross of Merit in Gold of the Finnish Sport were bestowed on 38 persons and 109 Crosses of Merit in silver of the Finnish Sport were handed out. Furthermore Medal of Merit in silver with golden cross of the Finnish Sport were awarded to 79 persons and Medal of Merit in silver to 136 persons.
