KIHU - Research Institute for Olympic Sports – is focused on Finnish sports. It was founded in 1990. The main mission is to promote Finnish top-level sport by conducting research in Olympic sports and applying research findings to practical coaching and coaches’ education. KIHU provides scientific, multidisciplinary research, which is also advanced, innovative and ethically responsible. The research areas include, among others, sport biomechanics, sport physiology, sport psychology, sport pedagogy and sport sociology.

The research activities of KIHU cover the entire Athlete’s Path. The time line from active childhood to top level athletic career and beyond has been taking into account in research expertises.
